Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Holds 13th Congress and ISAPS Course

Plastic surgeons from around the world convened at the Hilton Convention Center in Istanbul, Turkey last June 19 to 22, 2009 for the annual Congress of the Turkish Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. The convention was held in conjunction with the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS). Recognizing the need for quality continuing education for aesthetic plastic surgeons, the convention included an ISAPS Post Graduate Course. Renowned plastic surgeons, known for their contributions to aesthetic and plastic surgery shared their knowledge and experience with the participants. Among the speakers were Dr. Renato Salz, president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and Dr. Foad Nahai, president of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Various topics were presented through panel presentations, scientific papers, interactive videos, and teaching courses. There were also live surgery sessions on rhinoplasty. Included in the scientific program were sessions on techniques for the brow lift, midface lift, face lift, mammaplasty, augmentation gluteoplasty, rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, and body contouring for massive weight loss patients. The program also included the latest updates in the field of aesthetic plastic surgery, such as various non invasive techniques and stem cell studies.

“In the exciting field of Aesthetic surgery, it is key to an aesthetic plastic surgeon’s practice that he is up to date with the many new developments that are taking place,” Dr. Carlos Lasa, Jr., lone delegate from the Philippines explained. Dr. Lasa was mentored by Dr. John Lewis, founding member and first president of the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
